21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, SANAA

The 21^st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa is located in Japan.   The museum is located in the heart of Kanazawa and the aim of the building is in a shape which keeps the overall appearance of the volume of the building.  The building includes community gathering spaces, such as lecture halls, library and children’s workshop.

 Brazilian Museum of Sculpture

The Brazilian Museum of Sculpture, designed by Paulo Mendes da Rocha, The site is a 75,000 square foot triangular area. It’s located in São Paulo, Brazil. Instead of creating a free-standing building, the museum and the landscape are treated as a whole. Large concrete slabs create partly underground internal spaces and also form an exterior plaza with water pools.

Sao Paulo Museum of contemporary Art

The Sao Paulo Museum of Art is also located in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The main body is supported by two lateral beams over 74 meters freestanding space. Its considered a landmark of the city and a main symbol of modern Brazilian Architecture.  The interior of the building is quite spacious and the museum was inaugurated in 1968. It’s quite amazing on how the beams hold up this 74 meter astonishing structure.

Week 1: Lecture Reflection

In this weeks lecture we were introduced to what is expected from experiment 2 and the marking criteria.  We were shown the 6 buildings in which we had to select 1 for the following project and show its decays.  Along with that we were shown previous years work.  I really enjoyed the history of behind these buildings and look forward to doing this project.

Week 6: Lecture Reflection 

In this week’s lecture we discussed movement, we saw various number of movie trailers from the early 1950’s to present.  Each of the trailers was different and each gave us a different mood to each of the environments.  After seeing the different trailers it gave me ideas on how to improve my one to correctly set the mood for my audience.

Week 5 Independent Study

The Subliminal Message

My strategy for concealing the letters and numbers within my island will start at the micro scale and work its way up to the macro.  However, this will not coincide with the subliminal nature of any of my reveals.  For instance, I may have a macro scale reveal, which is subliminal.  The letter and number which I have is “S” and last number in my student id is “0” but I will make it “10” as told in the weekly task.   The occurrences of the S10 letter number-combination in natural elements such as trees or ground-vegetation are the results of human activities, so there are no naturally or randomly occurring instances of the subliminal S10 letter number combination.

Week 5: Lecture Reflection 

In the lecture we were shown how artists have created words/letters/numbers out of the environment, and how previous students hid their letter/ number combinations.  I learnt about the subliminal message which can be both very obvious and very discrete.  The action I will chose would be both, I will want to hide some of the symbols to see if anyone can catch it and some I will make it easy to see.

Week 4: Lecture Reflection

In today's lecture we discussed the different elements in Crysis Editor.  The use of the sky box allowing us to make the weather conditions to suite our terrain.  The different uses for the time of the day component, i found most interesting as the little techniques will allow me to develop the island to how i would prefer it to be.
