William Gilpin

This image from William Giplin I have chosen to incorporate into my island.  A beach island full of rocks and rough pathways.

Just an image from my island showing my progress towards Assignment 1.

Week 3: Lecture Reflection

In this weeks Lecture we discussed picturesque, really thinking about the islands vegetation including trees, grass, plants, bushes, etc. We were shown works from the people listed above which includes Claude Lorrain, William Gilpin, Capability Brown, Humphrey Repton, and JMW Turner. Other than that the example shown about vegetation in Crysis i found very helpful for me as it will allow me to do more with trees and grass as changes the sizes and the rotations.

5 Reference Images of Landscapes

Yosemite National Park, California, USA
Yosemite National Park, one of the first wilderness parks in the United States, is best known for its waterfalls.  Within its nearly 1,200 square miles, you can find deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, and vast wilderness all collaborated which creates a really nice aesthetic feel.  As you can see the open space creates a lot of sunlight and fresh breeze.

Sundarban Rainforest, Dhaka, Bangladesh
Sundarban is one of the largest single block of tidal mangrove forest in the world.  Sundarban harbors 334 species of trees, shrubs and epiphytes and 269 species of wild animals. World renowned Royal Bengal Tiger is the magnificent animal of Sundarban

Mount Everest, Himalayas, Nepal
The highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest, stands out among the jagged landscape of the Himalayan Mountain range.  Mount Everest has been carved by glaciers that move under the stress of their own weight.  The resulting sharp peaks, steep walls, and U- Shaped valleys characterize the almost surreal landscape.

Week 2: Lecture Reflection

In this weeks lecture we discussed real vs unreal sculptures.  We also saw some Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) demos in which we got to see how they are used. What i found most interesting were the hyper realism sculptures and to the amount of detail each of the sculptures went into which is something i would probably like to research more deeply to get an even better appreciation.

In this feature you can also change the weather type, which can be helpful, say for example if you had a rainforest layout and you wanted it to be a bit rainy to give you the desired feel to the environment.

2. Dragging and dropping objects from the rollup Bar can also come in useful. Items such as trees, bushes, cars, people, rocks etc.

5. Named selection allows selecting multiple objects and naming the selection.

Week 1: Lecture Reflection

Today's lecture was for me and i would presume for everyone else was extremely interesting as we got to see different architects work and what steps they take to get to the final project.  We also learned about what this subject has to offer and saw previous students work from the past few year. I  am extremely excited to start using crysis for our first project "The Island" in developing a place of imagination and innovation.
